Lycanthropy is a shapeshifting sorcery which transforms the sorcerer into a more animalistic, half-lupine form. This transformation can be partial, whereby the sorcerer retains more of their prior characteristics and some measure of rational control; or full, where the sorcerer loses most of their normal characteristics and sense of self.

It has one of the lowest rates of high-control among the more common sorceries.

Triggers[]

Full Una[]

One of the most common (and well-known) triggers for a lupine shift is the sight of a full Una in the sky. This is unusual among the triggers as the only one which will always result in a full transformation.

It is unknown why Una triggers this shift and not Ona, and why Una only triggers it on the full phase. Some have suggested that the shift is caused by a psychological effect similar to the Golem effect, where the individual's expectation that they will transform causes them to transform; however, others have pointed out that if it were purely psychological, then the sight of Una that merely appeared to be full would trigger the shift.

Other Triggers[]

  • Blood, esp. smell or taste

Treatment[]

Lycanthropy is most commonly treated with anti-lycanthropics, a type of anti-transformative specific to the disorder.
